Meet the Cake Boss (Buddy Velastro)

I had the privilege to meet Buddy last January 25, 2011. Buddy is an accomplished master baker and cake decorator and star of the hit TLC reality show Cake Boss. He's often asked to demonstrate, compete, and teach his craft around the country. Buddy and his staff turn out thousands of wedding cakes, specialty cakes, and pastries weekly. His award winning designs have been featured numerous times in different bridal and baking magazines. Carlo’s Bakery has also been featured in books, newspapers, such as, The New York Times, and television; most namely The Food Network. He and his cakes have also been featured on The Today’s Show, Good Morning America, The View, and HBO’s hit series, The Sopranos.

Pregnant Mommy and Husband Cake


This two tiered cake includes an expectant couple, pacifiers and teddy bear. Colors included light yellow, lime green and white. The bottom layer is red velvet with cream cheese filling. Top layer is chocolate with mocha butter cream filling.

Birthday Cupcake Tiers

I did this cake for a 60th birthday party. Fully decorated with cupcakes, topper cake cake with and flowers. This stand held 48-50 cupcakes including 8 inch round cake. Cupcakes are red velvet with cream cheese frosting. Chocolate cake with mocha butter cream flavor. Morning glory flowers I made using gumpaste.

Baseball Cap (Design 2)


This was a 21st birthday cake. Chocolate cake with strawberry cream filling.

Baseball Cap Cake (Design 1)



Chocolate cake with mocha buttercream. The brim was made of gumpaste and took days to dry off. The cake is a 8" round cake that I sculpted into hat shape. I used an actual hat as a model while I cutting away.

My second time to do Cinderella cake. Chocolate cake with vanilla buttercream filling.
